Professional Background

1. Joined Pakistan Customs Service after qualifying the Central Superior Services Examination in 1973.
    
2. 25 years senior level management experience in administration of Customs, Central Excises and Sales Tax (Vat) matters as an officer of the Central Board of Revenue (CBR).
    
3. On promotion to BS-21 served Ministry of Industries and Production for two and a half years as Senior Joint Secretary (Investment and Facilitation) from December 2000 to June 2003.
    
4. Served Ministry of Commerce as Senior Joint Secretary (Trade Policy) in BS-21 for two years from July 2003 to August 2005.
    
5. Assumed Charge as First Director General of Intellectual Property Organisation (IPO-Pakistan) in April, 2005.
    
6. Promoted to BS-22 with effect from 26th August, 2005 which is highest rank in the civil service of Pakistan.
