Mr. Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi Member of National Assembly (MNA), Former Federal Minister for Environment

Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi S/O Al-Haj Abdullah Jan Afridi was born on February 16, 1969 in
Khyber Agency. He got his early education in Islamabad while he did graduation
from Punjab University and Master Degree in Business Administration. He worked
as executive officer in Oil Marketing Company for 9 year in different areas of
the country. He worked as social worker and remained with National Rural Support
Program (NRSP) for Social Mobilization, poverty alleviation through community
participation in rural areas of Pakistan.
He
established (FRSP) FATA Rural Support Program on the pattern of NRSP to improve
the living standard and to provide health and education related facilities to
the people of FATA.

The purpose
of this program was to create awareness in tribal people for the uplift with a
view to bring tribal areas at par with rest of the country in development
projects. He was elected as member to senate, Upper House of parliament, in Feb
2003. He remained member of Senate Standing Committee on states and Frontier
Region Division (SAFRON).
He was also
a member of the Senate Committee on Interior, Commerce, Human Rights and
population planning. He contested the general elections 2008 and was elected the
member of National Assembly from NA-46 Khyber Agency, FATA as an independent
Candidate. He served the nation in Ministry for Environment as Federal Minister
from March 31, 2008 to February 9, 2011. He has been appointed Chairman of the
most technical and high profile organization like “Intellectual Property
Organization of Pakistan”. He is performing his duties wholeheartedly on his new
assignment from March 31, 2011.
